opencitiesphoto22“I particularly like that OPENCities tries to sell the opportunities that lie in migration instead of just stressing the problems” said Burkhard Hintzsche, Director Integration, State Capital of Düsseldorf during the launching event of OPENCities’ photography exhibition.

Indeed, to accompany the research element of the URBACT OPENCities project, a photography exhibition commissioned by the British Council has been developed around the theme of immigration into European cities. Eight photographers have been recruited to examine the idea of ‘openness’ in their cities. The resulting exhibition will tour numerous cities over the next two years. The photographers came together in the UK for workshops where they learnt more about OPENCities, shared ideas and developed project plans for their contribution to the exhibition.

The exhibition will run in Dusseldorf International Airport until July, when it will move to Cardiff and then to Belfast.
